Fisher Island Luxury Technology Residence

Challenge

AHT Residential was challenged with designing technology within an existing residential building in Fisher Island, Florida. The luxurious secluded island is three miles off the shore of mainland South Florida. No road or causeway connects to the island, which is accessible by private boat, helicopter, or ferry.

The client and designer requested that the audio and video components be hidden and take up the least amount of space as possible. In addition, a lighting and motorized shading solution was required to reduce heat gain and optimize the lighting throughout the space.

Solution

After discovering the client’s objectives, AHT designed a solution to meet all requirements. Throughout the residence, architecturally slim speakers were used, along with the latest in 4K ultra-thin displays.

A Crestron lighting and motorized shading solution was incorporated to create different lighting scenes, block out the sun and create privacy as needed. An architectural lighting plan was created to optimize the use of both natural and artificial light. The result is a perfect balance of lighting, no matter the time of day.

All technology is controlled by AHT-programmed Crestron touch panels and remote controls. The residence’s technology is also being monitored by AHT’s custom remote monitoring solution. With remote monitoring, AHT receives real-time notifications if any components come offline or need rebooting. In most cases, AHT can solve the problem before the client even knows there was one.
