First Ever AV Design Show! Hollywood Hi-Tech

AHT Media All Posts, AV News, Entertainment

If you are like me, maybe you were beginning to wonder when a show about AV design was going to come about. There are design shows about practically everything else, so a design show about AV design seems like a no brainer.  All the elements are there for an entertaining dynamic show. There are multiple contractors working together, famous clients,  luxury homes, and what every design show is made of, great before and afters!

A couple months back I had an idea for an AHT Residential AV Design/Reality Show. I spoke briefly with Ron Callis over at FireFly Design Group, who happens to be part of the documentation of “The Miami Beach Dream Home Project” as well as to a couple TV and film producers that I know. They all thought it would be a great idea! However, it would take some convincing to get everyone here at AHT on board with it.  I believe it’s something still worth perusing, so Robin and Al (AHT Residential’s Principals), lets make this happen!

Here is the breakdown of the first ever AV Design Show (But Hopefully Not the Last) Hollywood Hi Tech.

Host:

Janna Robinson

According to the DIY Network website, Janna has a vast knowledge and background  in AV design which is a very cool thing because you don’t see too  many woman in the AV design world.

The show is based on celebrity homes. The show features Entourage star Kevin Connolly, Rules of Engagement’s Patrick Warburton, Nancy O’Dell of Access Hollywood and Academy Award-winning film director Oliver Stone.

Air Dates:
Wednesday Nights 9:30 on the DIY Network

This is a quote from Janna Robinson about the show.

You do see some aspirational things, but you also see things that anyone can afford,” she says. “That’s something that’s really important about the show. The idea is to show people how they can do this for themselves. What’s so great about the electronics industry is there’s such a vast array of products that can fit anyone’s budget.

I understand trying to reach a larger demographic by featuring the show as a “do it yourself”. However, I find it hard to believe that Oliver Stone will be doing his own installations. Lifestyle technology is about custom installations that require extensive training and know how. What the show can do is give some basic helpful tips for the AV hobbyist which it probably does to a degree. I have so far only seen the trailer for the show (featured above),  and it looks like a really fun entertaining show. I look forward to watching the full episodes, and who knows maybe AHT will come out with it’s own AV design show sometime soon.

Key Takeaway:
Finally, the first AV Design show!
