Bang & Olufsen Announces Artistic Modular Wireless Speaker System

AHT Media Audio Video Los Angeles, Audio Video Miami Installer, Audio Video New York Installer

Bang & Olufsen is known for making incredibly designed speakers, but its latest model, the modular BeoSound Shape, might be the one of their best designs yet.

The unique wall-mounted modular design is based around a series of individual hexagonal tiles – behind each removable grille you’ll find either an amplifier, smart hub, speaker or acoustic dampers – that seamlessly clip together in a series of different patterns, fabrics and colors. The BeoSound Shape is designed to be a quality set of wireless speakers that stands out, like, art in your home. An algorithm was developed specifically for the BeoSound Shape, which ensures that the sound remains centered no matter where you move in the room.

At the heart of the speaker system is BeoSound Core, a connectivity hub hidden in one of the tiles that has the hardware for AirPlay, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, and Bluetooth 4.1, along with support for Bang & Olufsen’s BeoLink system. The BeoSound Core also has some wired inputs for Ethernet or line-in functionality, although its primary focus is on wireless. A base kit includes eight tiles — four speakers, two sound-absorbing acoustic dampeners, one amplifier, and one housing for the Core, but the system is expandable up to 11 amplifier units (each of which can support four speaker tiles, for a total of 44).

Don’t just think of BeoSound Shape as a functional asset. With Bang & Olufsen curated selection of high quality fabric covers, including exclusive wool fabrics from Kvadrat,  your music can be tactile and aesthetic experience too. No two configurations are likely to be the same, but each one will undoubtedly leave a lasting visual imprint on every wall and every room.

Designer, Oivind Alexander Slaatto, gave insight behind the hexagon design, “The hexagon is one of nature’s favorite forms, seen in anything from snowflakes to honeycombs and makes perfect sense in repetitive and expanding structures. Every outcome is unique and there is a sense of natural beauty in these infinite variations.”

The Bang & Olufsen BeoSound Shape is expected to go on sale in August. Interested customers can contact AHT Residential to be notified when both the custom configuration tool and preorders go live.
