Last March, while attending the Architectural Digest Home Design Show, a product caught our attention – an automated clothes closet.
This ingenious device is the brainchild of Metalprogetti, a leading design and manufacturing company based in Italy. Since 1980, the company has specialized in creating automated garment systems in various sizes and degrees of complexity. The closet is made of a loop-shaped hanging rail, designed to hold many more garments than can be stored in traditional closets or wardrobes. The system contains a fully automated rotating mechanism that will deliver the garment of your choice right to the entrance of your closet.

Out of the box, the closet system includes a dedicated graphical user interface (GUI) that not only stores an image of each garment you own, it remembers exactly where every item is stored. The app allows you to find garments not only by photo, but also by color, type or even according to the date they were last worn, putting together the perfect outfit. The only effort you’ll ever have to make – beyond clicking on a photo of the garment you want to wear – is to take and upload photos of each garment before putting it into the closet. In addition to the main GUI, the system includes apps for installation on your home computers, tablets or smartphones for further ease of use.
