Siri and Crestron: A Possible Perfect Match?

Apple is a genius at creating a product and having the world flock to it creating new ways to use it. The introduction of Siri, one of the main reasons to upgrade to the new iPhone 4s, has surprised many people in it’s accuracy and functionality, especially, for a first generation application. It’s not perfect, but it’s potential in future generations is truly limitless.

If you are unfamiliar with Siri, it’s personal assistant that can look up information online, type emails and texts, schedule appointments, give you reminders, and much more using only voice commands featured on the new iPhone 4s. So, if it can do all that, what about home automation?

It looks like there are already DIY automation enthusiasts out there who are tinkering with it’s capability to control home appliances. Check out the video below of a little girl giving a voice command to Siri to control a freestanding fan.

Although the fan took about 8 seconds to turn on, it did turn on. So, job well done to this DIY enthusiasts. We are sure in the near future our amazingly talented Crestron programming super geniuses will be looking into Siri as a new way of controlling a completely connected home. We can guarantee, it will be faster then an 8 second turn around time.
