Kaleidescape Alto + Kaleidescape Cloud = Cinema Masterpiece

For almost 20 years, Kaleidescape has developed new and ingenious ways to create and share cinematic experiences using premiere entertainment components, all of which can be custom-configured for large or small installations in luxury homes and yachts. Kaleidscape’s latest product, the new Alto movie server, is their latest addition.

Alto Media Server

Kaleidescape Alto delivers unmatched convenience, quality and selection for enjoying favorite or newly released movies with family and friends. In addition to being the only movie player that converts physical video discs into digital downloads for instant accessibility, Alto is also the first product of its type designed to work exclusively with the Kaleidescape Movie Store via the cloud.

Alto imports 100% of its locally stored content from the cloud, currently offering more than 10,000 movies and 1,600 television seasons – all licensed from major motion picture studios – and all available in Blu-ray or DVD quality. Additionally, each unit’s 4-terabyte hard drive stores up to 100 Blu-ray-quality or 600 DVD-quality disks. The capability of linking together up to four Alto players forms an enormous unified library that quadruples storage and viewing zones

All movies or TV programming on disk or downloaded from the Kaleidescape Store play in high-definition video with lossless audio, include support for 1080p video with 24 frames per second and bitstream pass-through of Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio multichannel soundtracks.

Control

Child Friendly Kaleidescape Remote

Alto is easily controlled by either a handheld remote or an iPad app. It’s also available with a child-friendly remote that allows kids to access their own content collection. For the best streaming reliability, linked players must be hard-wired via Ethernet, not Wi-Fi. If more than one viewing zone isn’t necessary, but disk storage is, rest easy. Kaleidescape plans include the upcoming release of a storage expansion module – also linkable – that will provide additional storage for those not needing extra viewing zones.

User Interface

In addition to delivering the highest-fidelity audio and video performance, Alto’s user-friendly interface offers an engaging and entertaining way to access and enjoy movies. It presents the high-res cover art of all your titles on the screen and includes a synopsis of the film, the audience rating, release year, runtime, cast and genre.

Alto even groups similar types of films on the screen when you stop the cursor on a particular film in order to offer a range of viewing options. In addition to re-starting a film exactly where it was stopped, Alto offers the option of jumping past piracy warnings and interminable film trailers straight to the entertainment. If speed is

an issue with other movie players, this one is blinding. It takes under 12 seconds to launch a Blue-ray disk stored in the unit and only about 6 seconds to start a DVD disk.
