AHT Media All Posts, Audio, Automation, AV News, Entertainment, Future Technology

CEDIA EXPO 2011, the technology mega conference of the year, concluded almost 2 weeks ago. If you were fortunate enough to make it to Indianapolis, your head is probably still spinning from the sea of technological innovation that was on display. If you were unable to make it, no worries. We will give you a quick recap of a few things we feel were noteworthy.

One of the more interesting sections at CEDIA 2011 was the Future Technology Pavilion. On display at the pavilion were Seura Mirror TV’s, a Crestron lighting and control system, a health monitoring system by GrandCare Systems, an under the bed TV lift, a window made of smart glass, advanced photovoltaic solar panels, electric vehicle supply equipment , and a six projection Stewart display screen.

Probably, the most unique out of all the gadgets at the FUture Technology Pavilion was the smart glass by Research Frontiers, Inc. Check out the video below featuring one of their scientists Greg Sottile explaining how this out of this world glass works, and how it’s able to be controlled.

Crestron
Crestron, one of AHT Residential’s leading Premium Partners, won five awards at CEDIA EXPO 2011. Most notably, were their awards for best new products – 6×6 DigitalMedia™ Distribution Center and SWAMP-24X8 Sonnex™ Multiroom Audio System AHT Residential was one of the first integrators to install Crestron’s DM System as well as their Sonnex System. Here is a video explaining both the Sonnex and DM applications in more detail. You can check out what Crestron awards AHT Residential won at CEDIA 2011 by clicking here.

Launch Port – Magnetic iPad Docking Station
Our friends at Dana Innovations came out with yet another handy and sleek innovation called Launch Port. This is a mounting magnetic device for the ipad to be able to stay connected easily and securely to a wall. There is also a mount for a countertop. The iPad can be removed very easily and charges while mounted. I foresee these to be very popular upon release. Check out the video below see it in action.
